Broca's Area: Episodes

We talked about a few issues tonight. Members of the Muslim community in town want to have a women only swim at the local Y, and we are fine with that. This lead us into a discussion of online commenting and how stupid people are. Then I swore a lot....

We switched gears and talked ...

In this episode we talked about her great new idea of having non credit language workshops at the University. It is her baby, and we are pretty excited to see it get going. It looks like I will be speaking at a conference, so check it out and come!

We talked a bit about twitter, about politics ...

I just got back from London and I had a great time at the Brain Tumour Foundation walk/run.

Isabelle had a sort of multicultural student thing here at the house while I was gone and she made the picture on the left.

We then got into a discussion of crazy people we have worked ...

We ramble on a bit in this episode, give us both a break, we gave our last final exams today. Today's big topic and theme was what does it mean to be a citizen.

I think really what it means to be a citizen is to sponsor me in the Spring Sprint for Brain Tumour Research.

You know, I went to a pretty good high school. Indeed, at one time it had the highest percentage of Ontario Scholars (over 80 percent average in your final year of high school) in the province. OK, so now it produces al Qaeda terrorists. So yeah, that's bad.....

We go from Futurism to Fascism to student evaluations to language classes. Oh and then the table broke.....

We drove around looking for a place to record episode 12, we had very little luck. Even McDonald's wouldn't take our money. It was like nobody worked there. Eventually we settled on A and W.....

We talked about the conference I was just at, about the new Pope, about art, you know, standard ...

We have a couple of different recording sessions in this one. Mostly initiated by Jon. We talked a bit about the play which Jon ended up liking, a bit about the movie Chasing Ice, which Isabelle had just seen and Jon described the new car he is developing...

I am thinking of giving Jon ...

Ever since Isabelle got back from Montreal yesterday Jon has been saying 'can we do a podcast?' So we took his suggestion and recorded episode 10. Jon started out by reading out the menu of the mythical 'Dave's Pizza Kitchen' which seems to be getting longer.

We eventually came around ...

So, last night we started to record, and Jon wanted in so, hey why not. Anyway, things were going along just fine, we were talking about the meteor that hit Russia when then, suddenly....

Yup, the power went out. It was at first sort of fun. We went for candles, and Isabelle went out ...
Isabelle has staked her claim as Queen of Canada. Dave can't shut up about House of Cards. Madeleine and Jon witness Isabelle attacking their father, David Gass has nothing to pimp.

How was your week? How is art made? Will House of Cards work on Netflix? What is in a Manhattan? Why did the California Golden Seals wear white skates? Who is Alex Galchenyuk? Why doesn't Isabelle care? Why does Dave drink so much?

We started out talking more about food and how people eat way too much crap, you know like pre processed stuff. Oh and how people frankly eat out too often.

We went all over the place and ended up talking about our interview on the local TV channel about us donating our old car to Habitat for HumanityWe ...

We sat down to talk about various things last night. Everything from how wikipedia editing works to the importance of food to health.

We hope you enjoy episode 5.

Another week, another episode. I really am loving being back at this.

Anyway, today we talked about a few things, including an update on the post fire repairs, a discussion of why some people are jerks at work and if google is making us stupid.....

We hope you like Eipsode 4.
<div ...

Hey I think we really are back to doing a podcast....

We started out by talking about comments by both Jim and Rachel from episode 2. This lead us into a discussion of gun laws in the states and the second amendment.

We went through a lot of stuff, we talked Christmas, we talked ...

After today's events it is hard to have any words, (though I do at the end of this episode). So we tried to change the subject to some happy stuff. Isabelle started us out with a ukulele number. She bought it last week, at, of all places, Future Shop. I wonder if she can got the extended warranty....

Isabelle ...

After our hugely successful Canadian National Day of Podcasting edpisode of our old show, Broca's Area, we decided to return. That's right we're back. It's Broken Area! Basically we have gone back to the just talking about stuff.

This episode we talked about relationships, our new Ford ...

As usual, on the Canadian National Day of Podcasting, Isabelle and I revive our old podcast, Broca's Area. We recorded the first part in the grocery store and in our brand new Ford Escape. In part 2, Madeleine and Jonathan joined us after dinner. Between the two parts we heard 'Shotgun Loudmouth' ...

A few years ago, 2005 to be exact, Isabelle and I had a podcast called Roca's Area. We went through a couple of format changes etc but we had fun. We packed it in back in 2009. We resurrected the show for the first Canadian National Day of Podcasting (Dec 1, 2010). Well, it is December 1, 2011, ...
